Station Carparks Extended At Seaford and Chelsea Stations
Carparks at Seaford and Chelsea stations have been extended as part of a State Government program to improve the journeys of Frankston line rail passengers.
Member for Carrum, Jenny Lindell MP, today announced that the extended carparks are now open and ready for use.
“We have expanded Seaford Station by 64 parking spaces, bringing the total to 284, and Chelsea Station by 80 spaces, bringing the total to 203, which is great news for local commuters,” Ms Lindell said.
“The upgrade to car parking, complete with new lighting and CCTV, will help to relieve parking pressure at these stations at a time when patronage on Melbourne’s railways is higher than ever.
“And with continued growth forecast for the future, an additional 2,500 parking spaces on the metropolitan rail network have been funded under the Victorian Transport Plan.”
Ms Lindell said that there is still work to be done on the extensions at Seaford and Chelsea stations, as later this year they will be complete new, secure bike cages.
“The new bike cages will be managed and supported by Bicycle Victoria and will be known as ‘Parkiteer’ cages. Each cage provides secure parking for around 25 bikes and is accessible via a Parkiteer swipe card for registered members.
“Once the new Chelsea and Seaford Station bike cages are underway, cyclists interested in finding out more can visit the Parkiteer website at www.parkiteer.com.au or phone Bicycle Victoria on 1300 546 526.”
Seaford Station can also be reached by bus route 780 and Chelsea Station by routes 888/89, 857 and 700.
